About the role:

Ballarat Community Health is offering an exciting opportunity for a qualified Mental Health Clinician to join our Forensic Mental Health in Community Health (FMHiCH) program - a vital service supporting individuals involved in the justice system to meet their mental health needs and successfully complete Community Corrections or Parole conditions. As the first point of contact for new clients, you'll play a crucial role in building trust and engagement with people who have often experienced significant trauma and present with complex mental health and criminogenic needs.

This role is key to improving mental health outcomes, reducing recidivism, and supporting long-term recovery. You'll work both independently and within a multidisciplinary, multi-agency team to provide comprehensive clinical services, including assessments, care planning, group work, and treatment coordination. If you're passionate about holistic, person-centered care and want to make a meaningful impact in the forensic mental health space, this is a unique and rewarding opportunity to be part of a committed and innovative team.

What you will bring to the team:

Experience working with complex clients in the mental health system, ideally with a background in community or forensic settings.

Strong problem-solving and time management skills, with the ability to manage a busy caseload while maintaining a commitment to self-care and professional wellbeing.

A solid understanding of mental health and corrections systems, alongside a strong commitment to the social model of health and recovery-oriented practice.

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to engage diverse clients non-judgementally, work collaboratively within a team, and adapt communication to suit different audiences.

Proven ability to build respectful, professional relationships with clients, colleagues, and partner agencies, while maintaining clear boundaries and contributing to positive team and client outcomes.
