About the Ngaanyatjarra Council

The Ngaanyatjarra Lands are managed by the Ngaanyatjarra Council Group (NCG), a wholly community-led entity representing the interests of Traditional Owners (Yarnangu) who reside in the communities of Warburton, Irrunytju (Wingellina), Papulankutja (Blackstone), Mantamaru (Jameson), Warakurna, Tjirrkarli, Tjukurla, Wanarn, Kiwirrkurra, Patjarr, and Pira Kata (Kanpa). Each community is an autonomous, separately incorporated body. Established in 1981, NCG represents the interests of the Ngaanyatjarra People across 11 communities in the Central Desert region of Western Australia. Employing over 450 people, NCG delivers a wide range of services, including health, utilities, construction, employment, community development, shops, roadhouses, art centres, and land services. NCG is one of the largest and most successful Indigenous organisations in Australia.

Our Vision:

Representing the aspirations and interests of our diverse communities, we are dedicated to keeping Yarnangu strong on Country.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a motivated Project Coordinator – Remote Australia Employment Service (RAES) to join our team and support the delivery of community, infrastructure, and enterprise projects across the Ngaanyatjarra Lands.

In this role, you will oversee projects from initiation through to day-to-day delivery, coordinating RAES and Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) participants, contractors, and internal staff to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with approved scopes, funding agreements, and Council priorities.

You will also support employment, training, and skills development outcomes through project delivery, and engage respectfully with community members, Traditional Owners, and other stakeholders. This role requires flexibility, resilience, and the ability to adapt to new environments while delivering meaningful outcomes in remote communities.

About You

You are a proactive and adaptable individual with experience in project coordination or community development, particularly in remote or Indigenous contexts. You possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or substantial experience in project coordination, community development, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal people and/or organisations, with a strong understanding of the social, cultural, and economic factors influencing remote communities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build respectful relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Strong project management skills, including planning, scheduling, budgeting, and reporting.
  • Experience supervising staff or participants, providing guidance, mentoring, and skills development.
  • Flexibility and willingness to travel frequently across multiple remote locations.
  • Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, adapt to changing priorities, and maintain focus on achieving tangible community outcomes.

What We Offer

  • Purpose-Driven Environment: Work in a culture that prioritises meaningful outcomes and community impact.
  • Flights and Accommodation: Travel and accommodation will be provided to support seamless relocation and participation in projects across communities.
  • Competitive Salary + Remote Allowance: Receive a competitive package that recognises the unique nature of remote work.
  • Professional Growth: Gain experience coordinating complex projects while contributing to employment, skills development, and enterprise initiatives in remote communities.
