Wesley College Melbourne, a school of the Uniting Church, established in 1866, is one of Australia's leading and most respected co-educational independent schools.  With an enrolment of 3,400 students from ECLC to Year 12, it comprises three metropolitan campuses in Melbourne, at St Kilda Road, Glen Waverley and Elsternwick, outdoor education sites at Chum Creek, Mallana and Lochend, and a Year 9 residential campus at Clunes.

We are seeking a passionate, innovative and engaging Design Technician for a permanent part-time (0.2 FTE) position, commencing in Term This position is based at our Elsternwick campus. We welcome applications from those with a product design, engineering, or manufacturing background with experience in equipment use, particularly 3D printers and laser cutters. Experience in using and operating CNC routers and enRoute software would be advantageous.

This is an opportunity for a current tertiary student, or a person with an industrial background in one of the above specified areas. Good communication skills are a requirement, as there is a need to work directly with students and teachers.

Main Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

A desire to learn how to manage 3D print and laser cutter workflows, or some experience in this field is essential

  • Manage 3D printers, a laser cutter and possibly CNC job requests
  • Full training will be provided on all necessary software/equipment
  • A willingness to learn and adapt is essential
  • Ensuring safe work practices in the department/learning area
  • Ordering and replacing equipment as needed
  • To determine needs in hardware and software acquisitions and assist in ordering processes
  • To communicate effectively with Design and Technology faculty members and students as required and to attend faculty meetings and professional development as required.
