Job Role: Mechanical Engineering Technician
\This role involves assisting engineers by preparing technical documents, plans, and designs for mechanical engineering projects. It requires a strong understanding of mechanical design principles and the ability to apply them in a workshop or field setting.
\The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing detailed drawings, plans, and designs for client projects under the direction of engineers. They will also assist with the design and modification of mechanical equipment, plant, and fabricated components. This may involve selecting and recommending appropriate tools, equipment, and materials for workshop and site use.
\In addition, the Mechanical Engineering Technician will be responsible for assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools, and hydraulic/pneumatic power systems. They will also undertake estimates of material costs, quantities, and machine requirements to support tendering and project scheduling.
\Other key responsibilities include performing and directing field and workshop tests on fabricated components and mechanical systems to validate compliance. The candidate will also collect and analyze technical data, conduct computations, and prepare engineering diagrams and reports.
\Qualifications and Experience: A Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology (or equivalent qualification) is required. The successful candidate will have experience in an engineering workshop or metal fabrication environment, with exposure to plant, machinery, and hydraulic/pneumatic systems.
