The Melbourne Cricket Club (MCC) has the public responsibility of managing one of the largest and the most successful stadiums in Australia and the world – the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG). The MCG is more than just a stadium, it's an Australian icon and a meeting place for generations past, present and future.

The MCG is host to more than 70 major events and attracts over three million visitors annually. The MCC is the largest sporting club in the country with over 150,000 members and also manages 13 sporting sections with participation over 2,600. The Australian Sports Museum (ASM) has its home at the MCG, celebrating the country's rich sporting history, which is also managed by the MCC.


About the role

A unique opportunity has become available for a skilled Digital Communications Website Specialist to join the Digital Communications stream for an 18-month parental leave contract.

Reporting to the Digital Communications Manager, this role is responsible for leading the development, publishing and management of content across the MCG, MCC, Committee Room by Grossi and Australian Sports Museum websites, as well as the MCC staff intranet (ClubHub) and mobile applications.

This role plays a critical part in supporting the MCC's communications strategies through engaging and timely digital content, and forms part of the communications team at select major event days.


Key responsibilities include (however not limited to):

  • Develop, maintain and publish digital content across all MCC-managed websites
  • Manage website calendars, content milestones, and critical updates
  • Collaborate with communications and marketing teams to ensure key operations and projects are reflected across digital channels
  • Lead the creation and publication of editorial and promotional website content
  • Ensure alignment of content across websites, apps, eDMs and social media
  • Provide support for internal communications via ClubHub (staff intranet)
  • Assist in content migration to Optimizely during website redevelopment
  • Liaise with third-party providers supporting our websites
  • Assist with eDM campaigns, mobile app updates, and social media as needed
  • Analyse content performance and prepare regular reports
  • Contribute to the match day communications team at select matches, including across some evenings and weekends


About You:

To be successful in the role, you'll have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in media, digital communications, publishing or journalism
  • Professional experience in a digital communications or web content role
  • Experience with CMS platforms (such as Optimizely, Sitecore, WordPress), CRM systems (especially Microsoft Dynamics), and tools like Google Analytics
  • Familiarity with email campaign tools (e.g. ClickDimensions)
  • Experience with website personalisation, customer journey mapping, and content for internal stakeholders
  • A proactive, detail-oriented and organised approach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Interest or background in sport, digital media or events is highly regarded
