What we offer:

- $71,838 - $75,322.00 per annum
- Full time Fixed term in Cairns
- Full Time Permanent in the Torres Strait region
- 6 weeks annual leave

About the role:
This pivotal role leads our Creditors team to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant processing of all vendor invoices, corporate card transactions, and Councillor payments. You will be responsible for overseeing reconciliations, audits, supplier engagement, and training while championing internal controls and fraud prevention.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise a small, high performing Creditor's team
- Ensure compliance with Council policies, legislation, and financial regulations
- Reconcile creditor accounts and ensure ledger integrity
- Oversee and process corporate credit card transactions
- Maintain effective supplier relationships and resolve escalated issues
- Conduct training on systems and Council procedures
- Provide data integrity checks and ensure fraud controls are enforced
- Deliver audit ready financial documentation and reporting
- Champion process improvement and operational efficiency.
About you:
- Proven experience in Accounts Payable leadership within a local government or corporate environment.
- Strong knowledge of financial systems and compliance frameworks (e.g. Techone).
- Ability to supervise and support team members across diverse locations
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- High attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving.
