The Role
This hands-on role is ideal for someone passionate about storytelling, content creation, and community engagement. You'll plan, create, and publish engaging content across all our social platforms, building brand awareness, showcasing our team, and connecting with our growing audience.
Working closely with the Brand Marketing Lead and our virtual assistant, you'll play a key part in shaping Smartfix's social presence through creative ideas, engaging visuals, and thoughtful storytelling.
This is a dynamic, independent role where no two days are the same, from shooting content on-site with our tradies, to planning campaigns, coordinating sponsor events, and sharing behind-the-scenes moments from life at Smartfix.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, create, and schedule engaging social media content across Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, and TikTok (with YouTube and Reddit to come).
- Develop and maintain a social content calendar aligned with marketing campaigns, events, and business goals.
- Capture and edit photography and video content on-site with staff, customers, and partners.
- Collaborate with the Brand Marketing Lead to coordinate marketing activities, sponsorships, internal events, and content planning sessions.
- Engage with our online community. Respond to comments, messages, and mentions to build genuine relationships.
- Monitor social trends, competitor activity, and platform updates, bringing fresh ideas to the table.
- Track, analyse, and report on social performance, identifying insights and opportunities for improvement.
- Work closely with other departments to share stories that reflect Smartfix's values and showcase our team and services.
About You
You're a creative self-starter who's just as comfortable behind a camera as you are behind a strategy. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, love collaborating, and can take a project from idea to delivery.
You'll fit right in if you:
- Have strong experience creating and managing content for multiple social platforms.
- Can capture and edit photography and video (mobile and DSLR) confidently.
- Are skilled in tools like Canva, CapCut, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar.
- Understand how to build engagement and community organically.
- Have strong wrien communication skills and an eye for detail.
- Are curious about data, trends, and analytics, and use them to improve performance.
- Have great time management and can balance creativity with deadlines.
- Are collaborative, positive, and proactive, always ready with an idea or solution.
Required Experience
- 1–2 years of experience managing and growing social media accounts or brands.
- Demonstrated photography and videography experience — DSLR and solo project examples are desirable but not mandatory.
- Proven ability to edit photos and videos using tools like Photoshop, Lightroom, Canva, CapCut, or similar.
- Sound understanding of all major social media platforms, including the basics of paid advertising campaigns.
- Strong wrien communication, conceptual thinking, and copywriting skills for digital storytelling.
- A portfolio showcasing social media or marketing campaigns (personal or professional projects welcome).
- Excellent time management and organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- A keen eye for aesthetics, composition, and visual detail.
- Willingness to travel 1–2 days per week to job sites for content creation (accompanied initially).
- Advanced content creation, editing, and copywriting skills tailored for social media platforms.
