We're seeking a commercially minded Legal Counsel with compliance and disputes experience to join our collaborative in-house legal team on a 9 to 12-month parental leave contract. About the role

Reporting to the Group General Counsel and working closely with our Senior Legal Counsel, you'll provide high-quality legal advice and support across our Australian and New Zealand operations. You'll be involved in:

  • Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts, including tenders
  • Advising on complaints and dispute resolution
  • Supporting insurance renewals, licensing, ESG framework and compliance monitoring
  • Enhancing legal and compliance frameworks, policies and training
  • Monitoring regulatory developments and legislative changes
  • Liaising with external counsel and managing legal spend

Based at our Altona North head office, this hybrid role offers full-time or part-time flexibility across 4 or 5 days per week

About you

You're an Australian-qualified lawyer with 3-8 years PQE and hold a current Australian Practising Certificate. Ideally, you bring a mix of private practice and in-house experience, and you're confident working across a variety of legal issues with sound commercial judgement.

You bring excellent interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills, a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach to risk, and a genuine willingness to learn and contribute across both legal and compliance areas.
