About the Role

Nexus Division's Infrastructure Division is seeking two ACMA Registered Data & Communications Cablers to support critical infrastructure and communications projects across New South Wales.

These roles focus on Cat5E, multi-core, and ELV copper communications cabling, ensuring reliable installation, termination, and troubleshooting of structured cabling systems. Successful candidates will work closely with electricians and fibre optic technicians, ensuring integrated delivery across low-voltage and communication systems while maintaining strict compliance with rail safety and WHS protocols.

Key Responsibilities

  • Install, terminate, and test structured cabling systems (Cat5E, multi-core, and ELV copper cables).
  • Carry out fault finding, troubleshooting, and rectification using approved diagnostic tools (multi-meters, Ethernet testers, etc.).
  • Ensure high-quality termination and patching standards for reliability and compliance.
  • Read and interpret communications drawings and schematics to execute works accurately.
  • Apply operational awareness to avoid impacting live networks or ongoing system operations.
  • Collaborate with electricians and fibre optic technicians to deliver cohesive project outcomes.
  • Maintain compliance with site safety, HSEQ standards, and induction requirements.

Key Requirements

Licenses & Certifications (Mandatory):

  • ACMA Open Cabling Registration (with structured cabling endorsement).
  • Rail Industry Worker (RIW) Card.
  • White Card (Construction Induction NSW).
  • Working at Heights Certification.

Willingness to undertake:

  • MTS Permit Holder Electrical (Network) training.
  • MTS Substation Access training.

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in structured copper cabling installations, testing, and terminations.
  • Proficiency with cabling test equipment (Ethernet testers, multi-meters, etc.).
  • Ability to read and apply communications and electrical drawings.
  • Proven track record of delivering works in infrastructure, industrial, or rail environments.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in communications networks.

Desirable Skills

  • Familiarity with rail corridor works or other high-compliance environments.
  • Awareness of HSEQ frameworks and ability to apply them in day-to-day works.
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams alongside electricians and fibre optic specialists.
