The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) is a vital part of Queensland's justice system, representing the State in prosecuting criminal matters across courts such as the High Court of Australia, Supreme Court, District Court, and more. Our work addresses complex and sensitive legal matters, ensuring justice is upheld with professionalism and integrity.

About your opportunity:

Here's what makes the opportunity extraordinary.

  • Maintaining a detailed diary of bail hearings to support efficient scheduling and case management.
  • Supporting and instructing Legal Officers and Crown Prosecutors appearing on bail hearings.
  • Processing requests for variations to existing bail orders under supervision.
  • Creating and managing bail files, ensuring all documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Preparing monthly statistical reports to track and analyse bail-related activities.
  • Providing copies of prosecution materials to defence counsel in a timely and professional manner.
  • Recording results from finalised bail hearings and ensuring accurate file closure.

We're looking for an experienced, dynamic, and motivated professional to fill this integral role.

Here's what success looks like:

  • Strategic leadership: The ability to apply well-developed organisational skills to manage competing priorities while addressing the needs of victims of crime.
  • Relationship building: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise effectively with a variety of stakeholders, including legal professionals and court staff.
  • Accountability and results: A collaborative mindset to work within a team environment and deliver high-quality outcomes.
  • Sound governance: Proficiency in preparing legal documents and statistical reports, a solid understanding of the criminal justice system, and the ability to conduct legal research as required

Why Join Us?

This is more than a role; it's your opportunity to engage with some of the state's most pressing legal matters while making a genuine difference in the community. Think you're ready for the challenge?
