Maurie Novak Architecture: A Senior Architect for a Design-Driven Practice

We are a small architectural practice in Melbourne looking for a talented and experienced Senior Architect to join our team. We believe in providing a collaborative environment where every team member is deeply involved in all aspects of the business.

Our portfolio spans high-end residential, multi-residential and educational projects, with a strong focus on technically rigorous, design-led architecture. We are actively expanding our capabilities in the area of Passive House design, following the successful completion of our first project. Beyond Architecture, our "maker" mentality means we undertake many forms of design in other disciplines ideally we are looking for someone whose interests are as broad as our own.


The Role

This is a unique opportunity to become a core member of a growing practice. You won't just be managing projects; you'll be actively shaping the business and our approach to design. The successful candidate will work across a range of projects from start to finish, from initial concept to on-site completion.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and managing projects from initial design through to delivery.
  • Producing high-quality documentation and construction drawings to a high level of technical competency.
  • Coordinating with consultants and managing client relationships.
  • Actively contributing to the development of our business, including brand collateral and practice systems.

Your Skills and Experience

We are looking for a proactive and detail-oriented architect with a passion for design and a broad range of interests.

To be successful, you will have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of architectural experience, with a preference for experience in the residential and education sectors.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD and Rhino
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • An interest in hands-on 'maker' skills, whether it be carpentry, furniture design, 3D printing, or similar disciplines.
  • Australian work rights and a passion for working in a small, collaborative team.
