We are seeking a skilled Producer to join our team at PACT Centre for Emerging Artists.

The PACT HUB Producer
 is a new position that will play a pivotal role in working with artists, peer arts organisations, government stakeholders, and PACT's staff and Board to imagine, lead and deliver the PACT HUB.

PACT is entering a new phase in its evolution in response to sector changes. Over the next year, the organisation will re
model itself into the 
PACT HUB
, a collective space for contemporary performance 
serving Sydney's small to medium arts sector and independent artists. 

With major impro
vements to our iconic warehouse theatre space taking place in Nov Jan 2026, PACT is in line to become even more valuable as a creative space in Sydney and training ground for artists, technicians and cultural workers. We will be restructuring the organisation over the next 12 months to make the venue as accessible as possible to artists, take on resident companies, while maintaining a core development program for emerging artists.

We are looking for an experienced and creative 
arts professional
 who leads with values, has a passion for contemporary performance and a desire to play a role in supporting the development of artists and our local community.

Since 1964 PACT is the place where artists meet, and new discoveries are made. Our vision is to provide a launchpad and testing ground for the emerging and experimental artists who will transform Australia's stages, screens, and galleries.

PACT is an Incorporated Association and governed by a Board of Directors. PACT receives multiyear program funding from the NSW State Government through Create NSW and is supported by the City of Sydney through an accommodation grant. PACT sources project funding from multiple sources including government, philanthropic foundations and direct donations.

POSITION OVERVIEW

The PACT HUB Producer is a new position responsible for the development and delivery of PACT's

program and leading the day-to-day operations of the organisation – including presentation of shows

and development activities, and support for resident artists and venue hirers.

The PACT HUB Producer will play a pivotal role in working with artists, peer arts organisations,

government stakeholders, and PACT's staff and Board to imagine, lead and deliver the PACT HUB.

The role requires a passion for contemporary performance, enjoyment working in a fast-paced and

people-focused environment, and a desire to play a role in supporting the development of artists and our community. To be successful in the role, you will have experience running a performing arts venue,

successfully securing and acquitting grants, leading staff, and producing live performance in a variety of contexts.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Operational and Creative Management

●      
Head the design and delivery of the PACT HUB, a collective space for contemporary performance serving Sydney's small to medium arts sector and independent artists, in consultation with PACT's Board and staff, and key stakeholder the City of Sydney (PACT's landlord).

●      Develop and explore new initiatives, ideas, partnerships, and events in collaboration with artists, industry partners, and other stakeholders and in line with the organisation's strategic goals.

●      
Lead
 the effective operation of PACT's venue and program, including through providing strategic leadership, identifying and mitigating risk, supervising staff, supporting artists, partners, hirers and other users of the venue, and developing the organisation's business opportunities.

●      Deliver outstanding financial and performance management by creating budgets; monitoring cost control; preparing financial reports and acquittals as required; working with the bookkeeper to ensure accurate bookkeeping; and completing evaluations, reports and analysis as necessary to ensure the organisation and its projects meet their goals and targets.

●      Identify and deliver strategies to maximise earned income (e.g. ticketing, retail sales, resource income, donation, sponsorship and other means) and fundraising through submissions to government, philanthropic organisations, and other sources.

●      Maintain up-to-date knowledge, compliance and training in First Aid, Fire Safety, RSA, safe practices for working with children, and other relevant safe work practices and procedures as required.

●      Oversee the operational management and strategic development of the organisation's venue and related physical infrastructure, including insurances, registrations, and work health and safety.

●      Work to improve organisational and office policies/procedures in line with PACT's values.

●      Report to and facilitate the work of the PACT Board as required.

Producing

●      Lead PACT's production team to design, resource, and deliver PACT's program of artistic activities, partnerships, and venue hires to a high standard, including (but not limited to) through project planning, risk assessment, staff and contractor management, contracting, production and marketing liaison, and budget management.

●      Provide mentorship and guidance to PACT staff, casuals, and artists to support effective decision making and oversight, and to promote a safe and collegiate work environment.

●      Ensure best practice standards and cultural protocols are followed when working on First Nations and disability programming.

●      Supervise core and casual staff, including ensuring maintenance, briefing and training is undertaken as required.

●      Develop and implement the organisation's marketing and communications strategy across advertising, direct marketing, collateral, press releases, publicity, annual report, digital marketing and website to promote events, grow organisational awareness, develop audiences and participation and engage community.

Relationship management

●      Build and maintain strong relationships and trust with PACT's community to support their participation in PACT project as artists, volunteers, employees, audiences, hirers, and community members.

●      Maintain and build relationships with artists and other arts workers for projects; and provide advice to artists within PACT's program.

●      Contribute to high quality internal and external relationships by working collaboratively and professionally with key PACT stakeholders including, for example, PACT and project employees, artists, crew, community, and local, state and national government bodies.

●      Undertake general duties as required to support the coordination and smooth running of the PACT team, including leading staff meetings, and undertaking office administration as required.

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

  1. Minimum of 6 years' experience in the performing arts sector, including in a producing role working directly with artists and other partners to design and deliver projects.
  2. Venue management experience in the performing arts.
  3. Demonstrated ability to effectivel

    manage staff.
  4. Exceptional communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, demonstrated through working with a variety of internal and external stakeholders, including government stakeholders.
  5. Highly developed operational management skills working in the arts sector, including budgeting, reporting, securing and acquitting funding, contracting, stakeholder management and marketing.
  6. Proven ability to strategically plan and act with high levels of adaptability, autonomy and problem-solving skill.
  7. Enthusiastic and hard-working attitude and a willingness to learn.
  8. RSA and Licensee Competency qualifications or the ability to acquire such qualifications.

Desirable

  1. Tertiary qualification in arts, events management or other related field.
  2. Governance experience in the NFP small-medium arts sector in Australia.
