Steel Trader

We are seeking a motivated professional to join our experienced and fast growing Steel Trading team.

Australian Steel Traders Pty Ltd (AST) is exclusively Australian owned and operated, specialising in sourcing high-quality steel products from a wide range of reputable global suppliers for private, commercial, industrial, and residential needs.

Role Description

As a member of the AST team, you will be responsible for sourcing steel products, establishing and maintaining strong relationships with key stakeholders (both customers and suppliers), building confidence and optimising value. You will be able to identify and develop opportunities for growth across our steel trading divisions, in line with AST's strategic priorities, while ensuring product quality and compliance with Australian standards.

Qualifications

• 5+ years' experience in steel industry, with a track record of sales and success
• Relevant tertiary qualification in Business or related field is preferred
• Strong knowledge of Australian and international steel industry
• Understanding and experience in steel logistics and operations, including exposure to bulk and container shipping processes
• Has established and maintained a strong network within the steel industry, with excellent influencing and stakeholder management skills
• Strong experience in trading, sales, or account management
• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to identify opportunities for growth or improvement across a complex business
• Strong commercial and financial acumen
• Team player who displays an open-minded attitude to change
• Ability to travel as needed to various locations (domestic and international)
