About the team

The Step Up team is currently a lil mini one. It consists of Bonnie (OT) and Eliza (Admin). Bonnie is great(ish) at juggling OT life, personal life and 754 plants, and Eliza is really great at adminning and juggling 2 small (very cute) humans.

Bonnie has been an OT for over 11 years and has had diverse OT experience across varying caseloads, and in urban, rural and remote communities. She loves humans and is super passionate about her job.

Eliza has worked in the aged care sector for over 10 years, including community care work and case management roles, and has a knack for making people feel genuinely cared for and supported.

About the role

This role is a subcontractor position and will involve supporting adult NDIS participants in the Northern NSW and Gold Coast regions.

Ideal applicants will be kind, hard-working and organised.. and love being exactly themselves. Finding a like-minded, dedicated person to join the team is the ultimate goal.

The role will involve clinical assessment and intervention for people living with disabilities, including:

• Conducting comprehensive functional assessments to identify participant needs
• Developing recommendations tailored to the functional and holistic needs of participants and their support networks
• Delivering face to face and remote occupational therapy support, including Capacity Building therapy, Assistive Technology and Home Modification prescription
• Collaborating with participants, their families, and other stakeholders to ensure a coordinated and cohesive approach to care
• Completing Functional Capacity, Supported Independent Living, Specialist Disability Accommodation and Plan Review reports
• Maintaining professional and timely documentation including progress notes and client files

Additional information regarding the skills required, and responsibilities and expectations of the role can be provided upon request.

Given you will be subcontracting, your workload can be as flexible as you like. You will be free to accept referrals and manage your own caseload at your discretion, however availability for at least 2 business days would be preferred. Ideally this will increase over time should this be something you are able and willing to do, as Bonnie would like to do less juggling and Eliza is extremely capable of juggling more than 1 OT.

This isn't a dealbreaker however, and wont impact your consideration and suitability for the role.. if you are a dedicated, kind and like-minded OT then you will be welcomed

In saying this, Step Up Therapies is ideally looking for someone who may be interested in becoming part of the Step Up team, and transitioning to becoming an employee over time, if this is desired and suitable for both parties. Step Up would love to find OT's that share the same passion and mindset that we do

Step Up Therapies is a mobile and community-based service, and hence the role will involve working from home, alongside face to face support provided in participants' homes and community environments.

If shared office time is preferred, options for this can be discussed however this would most likely be on a semi-regular basis. Over the phone discussion and/or support will be part of the working relationship, and Bonnie and Eliza are more than happy to be available as often as required.

What you'll need

1. A positive and person-centred approach
2. Occupational Therapy accreditation with AHPRA
3. Driver's license
4. Home office and own laptop
5. Demonstrated experience in the provision of occupational therapy services
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport and collaborate effectively with participants and their support networks
7. Effective problem-solving and clinical reasoning skills
8. Commitment to providing high-quality, evidence-based care and a passion for supporting participants to live lives that are meaningful and enjoyable

What we offer

Hourly rates based on billable work completed, and negotiable remuneration for certain non-billable work/tasks

Clinical supervision and support is able to be provided based on the individual's needs and skill level.

Step Up Therapies is open to hiring new graduate or early-practicing OT's, however the role will require a certain level of autonomy and hence experience is preferred, particularly experience within the NDIS space. Again, this is not a dealbreaker.

Bonnie is also mindful of the importance for new graduates and early practicing OT's to have access to the appropriate level of supervision to build effective clinical skills, and become a competent and capable OT.
