About the role

The Environmental Project Officer undertakes project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of environmental actions and initiatives under the implementation of the Special Activation Precincts Masterplan(s) and Delivery Plan(s) across regional NSW. The role will advocate environmental outcomes on behalf of Regional Growth NSW Development Corporation (RGDC).

Key Accountabilities:

  • Support and promote RGDC's strategic direction to ensure environmental outcomes underpin strategies, policies and operating procedures.
  • Provide a range of project management and support services including preparation of reports and briefs, coordinating resources, maintaining project documentation, and implementing and monitoring project plans, to ensure project outcomes are achieved on time, on budget, to quality standards and within agreed scope, in line with established agency project management methodology
  • Undertake regulatory impact assessment of changes in planning, environmental, natural resource management, biodiversity and vegetation management legislation, regulations and related policies
  • Collaborate and support the RGDC's delivery and policy units to embed their environmental obligations and objectives into the RGDC's functions (e.g. infrastructure, commercial and business operations, investment, concierge and sustainability) in a collaborative manner.
  • Partner with the business areas and key stakeholders to deliver solutions that effectively manage risk and deliver practical environmental outcomes for the RGDC and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate the work of specialist consultants in areas such as archaeology, heritage, air quality, hydrogeology, ecology and biodiversity conservation. Review and report on specialist environmental studies and environmental impact assessment reports prepared by others.
  • Create a range of related documentation for internal and external stakeholders and clients including briefing notes, fact sheets and guidance materials.

About You

To be successful in this role, our ideal candidate will have the following:

  • Experience in developing, managing, and implementing environmental projects and initiatives that facilitate development outcomes.
  • Proven ability to oversee programs and projects, ensuring objectives are met and budgetary requirements are balanced.
  • Strong research and analytical skills to support the development of key initiatives.
  • Expertise in implementing projects that improve efficiency and effectiveness within a branch.
  • Ability to provide timely, accurate advice and support to project teams.
  • Competence in creating and delivering various documents for stakeholders, such as reports, budgets, and briefing notes.
  • Experience contributing to the development of project management methodologies and processes.
  • An understanding of operational responsibilities within Government.
