From emergency patient-on-table deliveries to temperature-controlled global shipments, our work directly impacts patient outcomes across the healthcare community.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced Driver Trainer to join our team and elevate our owner-driver fleet to the highest standards of safety, efficiency, and customer service. This pivotal role will shape the face of our company through comprehensive training and performance development.
Key Responsibilities
- Induct and train new drivers in the Smartways Standard, ensuring they master safe driving practices, fatigue management, and operational procedures
- Conduct bi-yearly/annual ride-alongs and on-road assessments to evaluate driving behaviour and compliance
- Provide honest, constructive feedback that builds driver confidence and performance
- Maintain detailed training records and audit reports to track progress
- Engage with hospital staff and clients to gather feedback on service quality
- Stay current with industry regulations and transport compliance requirements
- Foster a culture of safety, professionalism, and accountability
What You'll Bring
- Professional driving experience and/or background in driver training or supervision
- Strong knowledge of transport legislation and logistics best practices
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to instruct and influence others
- Capability to deliver frank, respectful feedback that drives improvement
- Competency with telematics, in-cab systems, and basic office software
- High level of integrity, patience, and professionalism
- Training certification or adult education qualifications (preferred but not essential)
The Ideal Candidate
You're someone who understands that different people learn differently. You have a passion for coaching and can adapt your training methods accordingly. Your perfectionism ensures all drivers meet the Smartways standard, while your customer-centric mindset keeps our service promise front and centre. Above all, you champion safety and continuous improvement in everything you do.
Why Join Us?
At Smartways, your work will directly contribute to saving lives and improving patient outcomes. You'll be part of a forward-thinking team that values excellence, innovation, and positive community impact. Join us in making a difference, one shipment at a time.
