Becoming an Apprentice with the City of Newcastle (CN) will provide you with the opportunity to combine on-the-job learning with structured training.

This 4-year fixed-term contract is based within the Civil Construction and Maintenance Service Unit. You will gain exposure to learn an array of practical skills and knowledge across all elements of the Heavy Vehicle Mechanical trade.

As an Apprentice, you will work in conjunction with highly experienced Workshop Mechanics and Coordinators, focusing on a variety of activities across the civil works arena to develop operational skills and knowledge. Specifically, you will work closely with team members where you will provide maintenance and repairs to CN assets, particularly focusing on civil construction work.

You will be required to attend 1 x group assessment centre for a 3-hour period between Tuesday 30th September - Thursday 2nd October 2025.

If you are successful in progressing to the next stage of the recruitment process after the assessment centre:

You will be required to complete a Pre-employment medical scheduled to take place on Tuesday 7th - Tuesday, 14th October 2025.

Remuneration:  $37, % annual leave loading, yearly payment + 12% Superannuation per annum for a 38-hour week
