ROLE OVERVIEW

We're looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to join a leading engineering consultancy servicing Tier 1 mining companies. This is a permanent position based in Brisbane, working on a major engineering project with a skilled and collaborative team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead the detailed design of electrical systems for materials handling equipment, including HV, LV, and some Control Systems.
  • Prepare and review design calculations, technical reports, models, and engineering documentation.
  • Review and approve design documents, specifications, supplier data, drawings, material selections, and change orders.
  • Work closely with project teams to ensure designs are aligned with project scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Provide technical input to support procurement and vendor selection.
  • Liaise with stakeholders and, where required, client representatives to secure approvals.

SKILLS, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor of Electrical Engineering (RPEQ registration advantageous).
  • Strong experience in Mining, Heavy Industry, or similar sectors, with exposure to large-scale industrial facilities, utilities, or process plants.
  • Proven capability in detailed electrical design, calculations, and documentation, particularly for materials handling systems.
  • Solid understanding of Australian Standards relevant to electrical engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills, team-focused mindset, and a drive to deliver high-quality technical solutions.
  • Willingness to travel to site if required.
