About the Opportunity

There is an exciting opportunity in Primary and Community Health for a Exercise Physiologist to join the Paediatric Weight Management Service. We are offering one full-time position (1.0 FTE) from January to June 2026, as well as an additional temporary part-time position (0.5 FTE) from January to December 2026. In this role, you will play a key part in delivering evidence-based nutritional care to children, young people, and their families. You will work within a supportive and experienced multidisciplinary team (MDT) including Paediatricians, Nurse Practitioners, Psychologists, a Social Worker, Exercise Physiologist, Administrative Officer, and fellow Dietitians. Your responsibilities will include collaborating with the MDT to conduct individual assessments and develop tailored exercise plans to support families to make sustainable lifestyle changes.

What You'll be Doing

This position is responsible for providing patient centered and high quality exercise physiology to consumers in (insert facility), including providing the facilitation of exercise programs to consumers as per caseload: provide and participate in education and evaluation; supervise students as appropriate; and participate in ongoing professional development.

SWSLHD Primary & Community Health provides a comprehensive range of community-based services designed to improve and maintain the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities across South Western Sydney.

These services include prevention, early intervention, assessment, acute and post-acute treatment, health maintenance, and continuing care. The team supports diverse populations, offering specialised programs for children, young people, older adults, and at-risk communities.

With over 800 dedicated staff, including Aboriginal Health Workers, nurses, doctors, and allied health professionals, the service ensures high-quality care close to where people live.

  • Bachelor degree in Exercise Physiology or Exercise and Sports Science (or equivalent) with eligibility for ESSA membership.
  • Demonstrated broad range of relevant exercise prescription skills and experience, including experience in the prescription and delivery of chronic care exercise programs to consumers with varying health conditions and co-morbidities and/or demonstrated experience in the prescription and delivery of exercise programs for children and their families.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Demonstrated high level communication skills (written and verbal) and computer skills.
  • Demonstrated understanding and commitment to quality processes and the application of evidence based practice within the field of Exercise Physiology.
  • Applicants must possess an Australian C-Class driver's license (including P1 or P2). Those who hold a C class license (P1 or P2 included) from a state other than NSW must obtain a NSW C class (P1 or P2 included) license within three months of appointment. Learner's licenses are not permitted.
