An exciting opportunity for an experienced Network Engineer based in Melbourne, Sydney, or Brisbane

We're seeking a Senior Network Engineer to join our team supporting Opticomm, part of the Uniti Group. In this role, you'll be responsible for the design, maintenance, and management of our network infrastructure, ensuring reliable performance, scalability, and continuous improvement across the network.

Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Design, Maintenance, and Management of the GPON/XGSPON network
  • Design, Maintenance, and Management of the IP/MPLS Access Network
  • Troubleshoot and resolve escalated Level 3 network faults
  • Maintenance and development of Network Documentation
  • Testing of new equipment and technology for integration into the network
  • Support vendor interoperability testing
  • Design, maintenance, and Management of Integrated Communication Solutions
  • Participate in the on-call roster
  • Working with internal and external staff for resolving access network issues
  • Produce written summary reports on testing environments, inclusive of escalation reports to the National Engineering Manager
  • Lead technical meetings to discuss equipment, integration and other network related matters
  • Analysing business and customer requirements and turning into scalable solution
  • Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) throughout the product lifecycle, from inception through to launch
  • Maintenance and development of knowledge-based documentation

Essential Experience:

  • Minimum 10 years' experience in maintaining telecommunications or data communication networks
  • Have attained CCNP, JNCP, NRS or similar certifications
  • Strong experience in Telecommunications operations, a relevant lab, or a test facility
  • Demonstrable hands-on experience with service provider/enterprise IP based network
  • VPLS, MPLS, OSPF, BGP, VPN and TE experience, is essential
  • Experience with PON technologies
  • Experience with WLAN technology would be preferred
  • Experience with network security, firewall design and implementation would be preferred
  • Experience with Integrated Communication Network solutions is an added advantage
  • Ability to self-manage time and prioritise tasks in accordance with team objectives
  • Ability to analyse, understand and resolve technical problems or issues in L2/L3 networks
  • Ability to learn new technologies
  • Postgraduate qualifications with demonstrated examples of documentation (e.g. thesis) would be highly desirable
  • ITIL and/or Project Management certifications
  • Understanding of Continuous Improvement Methodologies
