The Executive Director of Schools, Diocese of Wollongong, invites applications from suitably experienced leaders of education for the substantive position of Assistant Principal - Pastoral Care (K-12) at St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park, commencing at the beginning of the 2026 school year.

The role of Assistant Principal - Pastoral Care (K-12) is an essential part of the Senior Leadership Team, supporting the Principal in leading the faith, learning and wellbeing of all students to maximise student learning growth and achievement and in the conduct and organisation of the school.

Located in Sydney's South-West, St Francis Catholic College, Edmondson Park, utilises an innovative K-12 model of faith, learning and wellbeing. ABOUT YOU

To achieve success in the role, you will be someone who:

  • Has an ability to articulate a comprehensive knowledge of the purpose of a Catholic School, particularly in the tradition of the Edmund Rice charism and within the broader evangelising mission of the Catholic Church.
  • Builds a learning culture of shared responsibility for quality teaching and student learning growth, informed by data.
  • Leads the Pastoral Care team (Pastoral Care Coordinator and Year Coordinators), overseeing and coordinating related events and programs.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence and a sound knowledge of contemporary pedagogical approaches while recognising the integral role of pastoral care in supporting student wellbeing and maximising learning outcomes.
  • Builds capacity through your own professional development and supporting staff by providing access to effective, continual professional learning opportunities, giving regular feedback and managing performance.
  • Acts strategically, using relevant data, to drive school improvement initiatives aligned to the school's vision and strategic plan.
  • Ensures that school processes meet system, NESA and legislative requirements. In particular, implementing and communicating Diocesan frameworks, policies and directives relevant to student wellbeing and safeguarding, pastoral care response strategies and individualised student management.
  • Develops and maintains positive partnerships with students, families and carers, the local church and the wider school community.
  • Demonstrates a depth and breadth of experience at middle leader level to ensure that they can adequately support middle leaders and teachers.
  • Supports the Principal through the work of the Senior Leadership Team to drive whole school improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Post-graduate study in a relevant discipline (or working towards).
  • Accreditation for Senior Leadership in a Catholic School in accordance with the 'Accreditation to Work, Teach and Lead in Systemic Catholic Schools in the Diocese of Wollongong' policy (or a commitment to acquiring within a 5-year period).

WORKING WITH CHILDREN CLEARANCE

This role is classified as child-related work and therefore, we require a Working with Children clearance to be completed prior to your commencement with us.
