About the role:

Reporting to the Deputy Director, Medicine both Operationally and Professionally, some of your duties for the role will include:

• Working with and providing support to supervisors involved in the training of Physician Trainees and ensuring that any conflict of difficulty arising between the trainee and his/her supervisor are resolved
• Providing clinical supervision to Senior Medical Practitioners, Trainee Medical Officers and Medical Students
• Ensuring the maintenance of comprehensive clinical records which document significant patient management decisions
• Providing support and counselling to individual trainees where necessary and acting as an advocate on their behalf
• Ensuring that training and assessment methods (including clinical placements and more formal learning activities) are consistent with best practice approaches to adult learning and accommodate a range of preferred learning styles, backgrounds and experiences
• Ensuring SALHN provide training that exceeds RACP requirements with involvement in ongoing accreditation and training assurance activities

About you:

• Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent. Appropriate Specialist Qualifications and registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner with Specialist registration; or another qualification as defined in the SA Medical Officers Award
• Demonstrated participation in approved continuing medical education since attaining specialist qualification
• Experience with the supervision and teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate medical staff
• Ability to negotiate and resolve difficult and complex issues, including those of a sensitive of personal nature
• Extensive clinical experience relevant to work in Physician Education
