About the Role

We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Family Support Worker to join our team in the Central Great Southern community. In this role you will help deliver our key programs: the You With Me program (for parents/carers of children aged 2–4 years), the Parenting Connection WA program, and a weekly MyTime parent support group (for parents of children with disability or additional needs). You will work collaboratively alongside the Facilitator, Coordinator and allied health professionals to create a safe, welcoming environment for families, build trust and connection, and reinforce program messages through practical support and community engagement. You will encourage parents and carers to participate fully in sessions, offer everyday strategies to support children's development, maintain relevant resources and referral pathways, and ensure that families feel understood, supported and empowered.

About you

You are someone who:

• Has lived experience as a parent or carer of a young child, and the ability to draw on this experience to support and encourage others

• Can build trust and rapport with parents and carers in a respectful, non-judgmental way

• Demonstrates strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to share personal insights appropriately and professionally

• Has experience participating in or supporting group programs, community services or peer support settings

• Is committed to child safety, cultural sensitivity and inclusive practice

• Works well collaboratively as part of a team (with facilitators, coordinators, allied health professionals)

• Has basic organisational skills and can assist with program delivery preparation and follow-up, and feedback

• Has a sound understanding of family functioning, child and youth development, and parenting skills

• Is aware of and respectful towards Aboriginal and other cultures in the client group

• Understands the challenges faced by families with children who are neurodivergent or have a disability and knows appropriate supportive approaches

Personal qualities you bring include:

• Experience in peer support, community or family-focused programs

• An understanding of early childhood development and the role of play in children's learning

• An ability to recognise when participants may require additional support and escalate appropriately

• A willingness to engage in supervision, reflective practice and training to strengthen your skills as a family support worker

Desirable criteria:

• Certificate or Diploma in Community Services or Children's Services, or equivalent experience in this field

• Strong administrative skills including computer literacy (Windows environment)

• Capacity and willingness to travel/work across various regional locations within the Central Great Southern area
