Who We Are
At Indigo Junction, we believe everyone has the right to a safe place to live and grow. We're not just an organisation – we're a community. We support people facing homelessness, housing crisis or other hardship, as well as young people, families, and individuals experiencing family and domestic violence. We walk together, grow stronger, and build a more caring, resilient community in Midland and across the Northeast Metro area.
Now is an exciting time to join us.
We're evolving our services and strengthening our partnerships to better reflect who we are and where we are heading. We have secured funding for new building projects and service programs designed to assist Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal individuals and families who are at risk of, or experiencing, homelessness. These programs put us at the forefront of service innovation; meeting clients where they are and providing opportunities to staff to make a difference.
As part of our team, you'll be joining a purpose-driven organisation that's embracing growth, innovation, and collaboration to create lasting social impact.
The Role – What You'll Do
In collaboration with Karlup Aboriginal Corporation and Wanslea, Indigo Junction are currently seeking 2x Family Support Workers. The role delivers high-quality, strengths-based parenting and family support within the IFSS program through individual in-home coaching and group-based programs. The role supports families to build parenting capacity, improve child wellbeing, and strengthen family functioning.
Empower Families to Thrive – Build trusting relationships with parents and children, providing practical, strengths-based support to help families achieve their goals and create safe, nurturing home environments.
Work in Partnership – Collaborate with Case Workers, Cultural Support Workers, and community services to deliver coordinated, culturally safe, and trauma-informed support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families.
Make a Real Impact Every Day – Implement case plans, monitor family progress, and share meaningful feedback that helps shape positive outcomes for children and parents.
Grow and Contribute Together – Be part of a supportive team that values reflection, learning, and continuous improvement while contributing to Indigo Junction's mission and strategic goals.
Champion Safety and Wellbeing – Promote the safety of children and young people in every interaction, upholding professionalism, confidentiality, and cultural respect at all times.
What You Bring
- A passion for supporting families and children, with a commitment to creating safe, nurturing environments.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills to build trust and collaborate effectively.
- Respect, understanding, and cultural competency when working with Aboriginal, Torres Strait Islander, and CALD communities.
- Relevant qualifications or experience in Community Services or Children's Services, or equivalent hands-on experience working with families and children.
- Knowledge and experience in trauma-informed, evidence-based family support, including working with complex issues such as mental health, family violence, substance use, and child protection.
Why You'll Love Working with Us
- Purpose-driven work – Make a tangible impact in people's lives every day.
- Supportive culture – You won't be on your own. We believe in teamwork, mentoring, and shared learning.
- Opportunity to grow – We encourage professional development and foster leadership from within.
- Inclusive & respectful environment – We celebrate diversity, honour the traditional custodians of our lands, and strive to be culturally safe.
We're a proud and culturally aware employer
At Indigo Junction, we are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We value diversity and are committed to fostering safe and inclusive workplaces for all.
We are a proud employer of Aboriginal people, achieving this through strong support, mentoring, recognition and flexible work arrangements that cater to family commitments and cultural obligations. We recognise the strength and resilience that Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples bring to our community and our work.
