An exciting opportunity exists for a talented and passionate individual to join the public Administration Group, Cabinet and Governance Branch as a Policy Officer, Intergovernmental at the Department of Premier and Cabinet.
The Cabinet and Governance Branch provides high-quality, strategic analysis and advice on public sector administration and workforce matters and the institutions of government, including the Office of the Governor, Parliament, Parliamentary Workplace Standards and Integrity Commission, the Victorian Public Sector Commission and the Office of the Chief Parliamentary Counsel.
The Policy Officer in the Intergovernmental team plays an essential role in supporting relations between Victoria, the Commonwealth and other states and territories. The Policy Officer will work with senior staff to contribute to Victoria's intergovernmental engagement by supporting and coordinating strategic policy advice to the Premier and senior executives on intergovernmental issues and providing logistical support for Victoria's participation in key intergovernmental meetings and events, including National Cabinet. As required, the Policy Officer may also support work being undertaken by the Public Administration group and wider department.
About You
As our ideal candidate you will have:
- Demonstrated organisational skills including the ability to determine priorities and meet deadlines, effectively balance competing demands and adapt to changing priorities.
- Strong written communication skills, including demonstrated ability to prepare briefs, emails, reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in a dynamic and complex environment, including readily adapting to changing circumstances and priorities.
- Highly developed interpersonal and stakeholder management skills and ability to constructively deal with stakeholder issues.
- Demonstrated project delivery skills and ability to monitor progress of tasks against plans and takes corrective action when required.
