Network Engineer – Cloud Infrastructure
See Yourself in the Team
The NLA (Network Lab Automation) squad sits at the heart of the bank's infrastructure transformation. Their work enables faster, safer deployments through automation and DevOps practices; improved network resilience and observability to reduce downtime and risk; scalable infrastructure that supports hybrid environments and future growth; and streamlined collaboration across engineering, security, and operations teams.
This is an ideal team for Network Security Engineers who thrive in greenfield environments, enjoy solving complex infrastructure challenges, and want to make a tangible impact on enterprise connectivity.
Your Impact and Contribution
As a Staff Platform Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in modernising how we manage and secure networks, leveraging DevOps practices to automate, simplify, and scale our infrastructure. Your work will directly support SD-WAN migrations, LAN provisioning, and global infrastructure initiatives. You will deliver impact by designing and automating secure, scalable network infrastructure that underpins global connectivity, accelerates deployment, and strengthens the bank's resilience, enabling teams across the enterprise to innovate with confidence and enhances the experience and trust of our customers. In this role, you may expect to:
- Automate network provisioning and configuration using Python, Bash, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines, while building and maintaining delivery pipelines with rollback and validation features to support scalable infrastructure operations.
- Design, develop, and test APIs using Django REST or FastAPI, implementing automated testing to ensure stability and reduce risk in production environments.
- Deploy and manage containerised services using Docker and Kubernetes, leveraging declarative configuration and version-controlled automation tools like Ansible and Terraform for consistent and auditable infrastructure deployments.
- Lead infrastructure remediation efforts including network upgrades, SaaS migration for secure file transfer, and load balancer refreshes to improve performance and visibility.
- Drive firewall modernisation and contribute to the development of automation frameworks for platforms such as Nexus, Palo Alto, NSX-T, and Service Mesh to streamline network security operations.
- Integrate security throughout the network stack by embedding secure coding practices, secrets management, access controls, and automation into infrastructure tooling, while ensuring compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Apply Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) principles to network infrastructure, implementing monitoring solutions like Grafana, Prometheus, and SNMPv3 to enhance observability, fault tolerance, and incident response, and contribute to disaster recovery strategies for global high availability.
- Collaborate across engineering and operations teams to enhance architecture and reduce complexity, while maintaining comprehensive documentation and contributing to knowledge bases that support operational excellence and onboarding.
Key Skills & Experience
This role calls for a technically astute and forward-thinking Network Engineer with deep expertise in enterprise network security. You'll thrive in a cloud-integrated, automation-driven environment, bringing a passion for infrastructure and a commitment to modern engineering principles that ensure security, reliability, and scalability across platforms.
We're excited to speak with engineers who bring:
- Expertise in network fundamentals including switching, routing, and firewalls, with hands-on experience remediating and modernising infrastructure across global branches, and the ability to apply this knowledge in hybrid and cloud-integrated environments.
- Proven ability to implement automation frameworks for platforms such as Nexus, Palo Alto, NSX-T, and Service Mesh, while supporting firewall modernisation and streamlining change requests through single-entry automation portals.
- Skill in decommissioning legacy systems and refreshing load balancer platforms to enhance performance, reduce risk, and align with enterprise infrastructure modernisation initiatives.
- Strong scripting skills in Python and Bash for infrastructure automation, with advanced proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python or JavaScript/TypeScript.
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP, and familiarity with serverless deployments and cloud-native engineering practices.
- Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and automation tooling, including Ansible, YANG, and JSON, to streamline infrastructure workflows and ensure consistency.
- Skill in API development and integration using Django REST Framework or FastAPI, with a focus on building scalable and secure automation interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with containerisation and orchestration technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, and virtualisation platforms to support modern deployment models.
- Clear and confident communication skills, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively across stakeholder groups and drive cross-functional outcomes.
What's in it for you?
- Be part of a high-impact, greenfield project with visibility across the enterprise.
- Work with modern frameworks and platforms in a collaborative, forward-thinking environment.
- Hybrid work model with flexibility and autonomy.
- Competitive salary, bonus, and employee benefits.
- Access to world-class tooling and continuous learning opportunities.
