About the Role
We're looking for a data-driven storyteller to join the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW as our Business Insights & Reporting Specialist. In this newly shaped 12-month fixed-term role, you'll turn complex data into clear, actionable insights that lift performance across marketing, customer engagement, and organisational strategy.
Reporting to the Digital Marketing Manager, you will collaborate across teams to design dashboards, streamline data flows, and build reporting that leaders actually use. If you love improving systems, connecting dots, and seeing your work influence big decisions, this is your kind of role.
Why work with us?
As the organisation behind the Sydney Royal Easter Show, Sydney Royal competitions, education programs and community initiatives, our work touches millions of visitors and participants each year. Join a purpose-led team with a 203-year legacy of backing Australian agriculture and communities - while embracing new technology to shape what's next.
What you'll enjoy:
- Impact you can see - your reporting and insights inform real decisions across iconic events and programs.
- Growth and learning - exposure to diverse datasets, platforms and stakeholders.
- Great perks - free onsite parking, tickets to RAS events (including the Show), discounted onsite café, and wellness programs.
- Values-driven culture - Respect | Ownership | Achievement | Honouring our Past | Embracing our Future.
Key Responsibilities
- Analytics & Reporting
- Own analytics and insights across RAS data
- Design, build and maintain Power BI dashboards, data models and scheduled reports that scale.
- Translate business questions into measurement plans and clear, decision-ready insights.
- Data Engineering & Automation
- Integrate, clean and prepare datasets from multiple internal systems; manage ETL processes for reliability and speed.
- Identify and implement automation to reduce manual reporting and improve accuracy.
- Stakeholder Partnership
- Partner with marketing, communications and customer teams to refine KPIs, improve campaign measurement, and embed data-informed ways of working.
- Support digital transformation by aligning systems, processes and data infrastructure.
About You
- A strong analytical mindset with a focus on optimisation and scalability.
- Excellent communication skills — you can explain complex data simply for non-technical audiences.
- High energy and initiative; able to work independently and as part of a team in fast-paced environments.
- A proactive, ethical and quality-driven approach.
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
- Approximately 2+ years' experience in data analytics/business insights (internships included).
- Strong experience with large datasets and BI tools; proficiency in Power BI, BigQuery, Advanced Excel, DAX, SQL and M language.
- Experience in campaign analytics and digital performance tracking; excellent data visualisation and storytelling.
Desirable
- Tertiary qualifications in data analytics, computer science, digital technology or related fields.
- Exposure to CMS, CRM, automation and workflow tools.
