We are looking to employ an experienced Estimator to join our team

The role of an Estimator at Central Asphalt Group is to accurately assess and determine the costs associated with road construction projects. This includes analysing project requirements, interpreting drawings and specifications, and compiling detailed cost estimates for labour, materials, equipment, and subcontractor services. The Estimator plays a critical role in tendering processes and ensuring competitive and profitable quotes that align with the company's financial goals.

Additionally, the Estimator collaborates closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to provide cost-effective solutions, identify potential cost-saving opportunities, and minimize financial risks while maintaining high standards of quality and compliance with relevant regulations and industry standards.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Review and analysis: of RFT packages and subcontractor quotations.
  • Site Visit: Conduct site visits to assess the existing conditions, topography, and any potential challenges that may impact construction costs.
  • Material Quantities: Calculate the quantities of materials required for the project, including asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and other construction materials.
  • Material Costs: Research and obtain current prices for construction materials from suppliers to determine material costs.
  • Labor Requirements: Estimate the labor hours needed for various tasks, including excavation, grading, paving, and other construction activities.
  • Subcontractor Quotes: Obtain quotes from subcontractors for specialized work and incorporate those costs into the overall estimate.
  • Client Relations: Build and maintain strong client relationships through regular check-ins.

Candidates require:

  • Minimum of 3 years experience in the industry
  • Demonstrated ability to scrutinise tender documents, identify potential risks and offer mitigation strategies.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and stay focused under pressure.
  • Car Licence
