Liverpool Hospital is recruiting for a Senior Resident Medical Officer to complement and enhance the current Plastics and ENT Surgery department.

Liverpool Hospital, founded in 1813, is the major health service for south-western Sydney, providing services to the local government area of Liverpool City Council as well as district services to residents and visitors in the area. It also provides a range of state-wide services in areas such as critical care and trauma, neonatal intensive care and brain injury rehabilitation.
The Hospital provides a health service of international standing, with 23 operating theatres, capacity for 877 beds, diagnostic and imaging services, emergency and trauma care, maternity, paediatric, cancer care, mental health, ambulatory care, allied health and medical and surgical services from birth to aged care.
Liverpool Hospital is currently undergoing a major redevelopment. The $790 million Liverpool Health and Academic Precinct (LHAP) project will provide enhanced facilities and an increased capacity to meet future significant population growth for South Western Sydney.
Liverpool Hospital is a principal referral and teaching Hospital of the University of NSW and the Western Sydney University and also welcome students from over 20 universities and colleges.
Located in the heart of Liverpool City, the hospital is close to public transport, shopping centres and eateries.

What you'll be doing
This position is primarily designed to benefit junior doctors who wish to pursue a career in surgery, focusing on Plastics and ENT. The position will provide effective surgical services to patients under supervision at Liverpool Hospital in complex clinical environments whilst facilitating trainee's preparation for a career in surgery. There will be ample opportunity for theatre exposure to these surgical sub specialties
Responsibilities include:
- Co-ordinating admission, management and discharge planning of patients with all members of the team.
- Involvement in day-to-day assessment and management of patients including effective clinical handover.
Full participation in after hours on call as required.
MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
- Must have completed at least 2 years post-graduate training, including a minimum of 6 months surgical experience in Australian or New Zealand hospitals or recognised equivalent (not as an observer).
- Demonstrate commitment/intention to complete Surgical Education and Training with the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. A 'demonstrable intention' includes completion of a credible, structured and current plan of study for the RACS Surgical Science Examination and bringing anatomical knowledge up to the standard required for a procedural discipline.
- Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communication and computer skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilizing excellent clinical skills, judgement and expertise.
- Demonstrated effective teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary clinical care team.
- Evidence of continued professional development appropriate to an early surgical career, commitment to self-directed education and teaching of undergraduates and postgraduates.
- A professional attitude and participation in the after-hours and on-call rosters.
