Compliance & Risk Senior Manager - Asset Management

JS Careers is currently sourcing a senior funds management compliance professional to join a leading asset manager in Australia. The Senior Risk & Compliance Manager will participate in the evaluation, ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's risk & compliance framework.

Purpose of role

  • Ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's compliance management framework, having regard to its business and strategic objectives.
  • Ongoing development, implementation and maintenance of the firm's operational compliance program and compliance monitoring system, to ensure the practical embedding of compliance within business operations.
  • Encouraging the development of a culture of compliance with regulatory, fiduciary and legal obligations, industry standards and internal company policy.
  • Maintenance of Compliance Plans for the firms operating funds;
  • Development of policies to ensure compliance with the firms Australian financial services licence conditions;
  • Implementation of global and local compliance policies and procedures;
  • Enhancement of the firm's AML/CTF Program;
  • Involvement in the delivery of compliance training to the business.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, legal or a related field.

Experience

  • 6+ years of experience in solving compliance issues and developing compliance policies and procedures in the Australian financial services industry. This experience will ideally have been gained in a funds management firm; however, other relevant backgrounds will also be considered, including professional services firms (legal, accounting or management consulting), or as a regulator.

Key criteria

  • Specific practical experience in implementing funds management compliance programs;
  • Strong understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in Australia, most notably the Managed Investments Act (MIA);
  • Understanding of common financial services industry practices;
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills (oral and written), with the ability to translate complex information and situations into a clear, concise and effective message.
  • Self-starter who is capable of rapidly learning key elements of the business, managing multiple projects and meeting deadlines.
