About the role

As our next Light Vehicle Leading Hand to proudly represent our Maintenance Team on a 14/7 roster, you will live for challenges and thrive on the variety of work available. Like all of us at Thiess, you're a passionate and energetic person, that appreciates responsibility, recognition and reward.

In this role, you will:

• Work a 14/7 Roster, 7 Days and 7 Nights, 12 hours shifts

• Supervise a team of LV Fitters, ensuring the swift resolution of planned and unplanned machine breakdowns and minimizing downtime.

• Perform the servicing, repair and maintenance of mobile fleet and other equipment in accordance with Thiess servicing, lubrication and maintenance systems documentation.

• Procurement & Logistics: Manage the procurement of parts for repairs, ensuring timely availability of correct parts to avoid unnecessary delays.

• Mentoring & Training: Mentor team members, provide on-the-job training, and support them with troubleshooting, analysis, and repair strategies.

• Completing general maintenance, breakdowns, services and component change outs to a high standard.

• Source technical information from the relevant available reference manuals, technical bulletins, OEM and computer based systems.
• Ensure good housekeeping standards are maintained at all times.
• Provide technical information to staff and operations personnel.
• Conduct technical inspections and job estimations.

About you

• Automotive Trade (Light Vehicle Mechanical) or relevant equivalent
• Previous Leading Hand experience in a maintenance role
• Post-trade experience working in the Mining or Heavy Earth Moving industry
• JDE and INFOMINE experience is highly regarded for work order management and maintenance tracking.
• Experience in Vehicle Air Conditioning systems desired
• Experience in general maintenance, breakdowns, component change outs and servicing of Toyota vehicles
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

• A proactive approach to safety, ensuring all activities are performed with minimal risk.

• You will also need to possess a high regard for and practice health and safety at all times
