Financial Controller

As the Financial Controller for Victoria, you will be responsible for overseeing the finance function of the VIC operations and will work closely with the Group Financial Controller in our corporate office in Sydney. In addition, this role involves a strong business partnership with our Chief Operating Officer in Victoria and incorporates a real opportunity to drive business results and add value. This role will be based in Burwood, VIC.

Your responsibilities will involve leadership of all elements of the finance function in Victoria including:

Finance and accounting

• Oversee all aspects of financial control and financial accounting
• Manage the processing teams including administration, accounts receivable and accounts payable
• Prepare all financial reports to enable a rich discussion of business performance amongst senior executives with a view toward maximising outcomes
• Oversee the preparation of all forecast and budgets
• Manage the treasury function including floorplan financing and cash
• Engage with the head office finance function to address and support group initiatives whilst working in partnership with financial controllers in NSW and QLD.

Business and project management

• Provide leadership and direction for key projects as required
• Participate as a key contributor in Victorian senior management discussions to jointly drive business performance
• Act as a senior leader to provide coaching, guidance and support to relevant team members and business operators as required.
• Identify and address business risks as they develop, taking actions as necessary
• Partner with IT to engage with IT suppliers on key system matters

Who we are looking for:

• Significant past experience leading a finance function including full responsibility for all financial accounting, reporting, analysis, and insights.
• Past experience working with operational leaders to present the financial performance and work effectively to drive business results
• Demonstrated leadership style well-suited to a fast-paced, high-volume business environment
• Previous experience in the automotive industry preferred, with a strong understanding of operational demands
• Relevant accounting qualifications: CA, CPA or equivalent
• Sound knowledge of Dealer Management Systems
• Proven ability to mentor and develop team members, foster growth and improve performance
• Excellent communication skills, ensuring clear, effective, and collaborative interactions from the dealership floor to the boardroom.
