Role Overview
As an Occupational Therapist, you'll provide in house consultation to community members to empower them to carry out everyday tasks with confidence and independence, ultimately improving their health, quality of life, and well-being.
Responsibilities
· Assessment and Planning:
o Understand each client's lifestyle and goals.
o Identify barriers they face.
o Create individualised treatment plans to enable independent living.
o Take a holistic approach, considering physical, social, psychological, and environmental needs.
o Establish realistic goals with meaningful outcomes.
o Collaborate with patients, families, and other professionals.
· Treatment Implementation and Evaluation:
o Implement support plans in hospital and community settings.
o Introduce specialist equipment as needed.
o Periodically review treatments, evaluate progress, and make adjustments.
o Maintain written records and attend case meetings.
· Specific Activities (based on client case load):
o Develop rehabilitation programs for skill rebuilding and confidence restoration.
o Advise on home and workplace environmental alterations (e.g., wheelchair access).
Key Selection Criteria
· Clinical Expertise:
o Demonstrate proficiency in assessing clients' needs, developing treatment plans, and implementing evidence-based interventions.
o Experience working with diverse populations, including individuals with physical disabilities, cognitive impairments, and mental health conditions.
· Collaboration and Communication:
o Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
o Strong communication skills to engage with clients, families, and other professionals.
o Document client progress accurately and maintain clear records.
· Problem-Solving and Adaptability:
o Analyse complex cases and adapt treatment strategies as needed.
o Address barriers to independent living and promote functional outcomes.
o Provide creative solutions for environmental modifications.
· Empathy and Patient-Centred Approach:
o Show empathy and compassion toward clients.
o Tailor interventions to individual goals and preferences.
o Advocate for clients' rights and well-being.
· Professional Development:
o Commitment to ongoing learning and professional growth.
o Attend relevant workshops, conferences, and training sessions.
o Stay informed about advancements in occupational therapy practice.
Qualifications
· Bachelor's or master's degree in occupational therapy.
· Relevant certifications and licensure.
· Strong communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
· Familiarity with local regulations and professional standards.
