Wellbeing & Counselling Consultant
Brand new role – help us grow, and grow with us.
We're expanding our services and creating a brand-new role to meet the growing demand for counselling and wellbeing support across Tasmania. If you're looking for a role where no two days are the same and where you'll make a real difference to people and workplaces, this could be the opportunity you've been waiting for.
We're a Tasmanian not-for-profit that's all about community, connection, and care. Our services range from counselling and family dispute resolution to workplace wellbeing, critical incident response, training, and supervision.
What You'll Do
As our new Wellbeing & Counselling Consultant, you'll combine counselling expertise with organisational support and consultancy. One day you might be helping a client navigate a tough time, the next you could be running a workshop on resilience, supporting a workplace through a critical incident or working with a business to improve wellbeing and reduce psychosocial risks.
This Hobart-based role (with occasional travel in Tasmania) will see you delivering support face-to-face and via telehealth to a diverse range of clients including individuals and organisations. Your week will be varied, meaningful, and full of human connection.
Here's a taste of what you'll be doing:
- Counselling for individuals and couples (EAP and private settings)
- Supporting organisations and employees after critical incidents
- Facilitating engaging workplace training to promote positive wellbeing
- Providing professional supervision and coaching for individuals and groups
- Partnering with organisations on wellbeing, psychosocial risk, and cultural change
- Writing clear, evidence-based reports and recommendations for workplaces
We're looking for someone available 4 to 5 days per week, plus ability to be on our oncall roster. Let's chat about what that looks like for you.
About You
You're warm, professional, and love variety. You're equally comfortable in a counselling room, at a boardroom table, or leading a workshop. You've got the confidence to support individuals and the insight to help organisations thrive through building healthier, more resilient cultures.
You bring:
- A tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counselling
- Current full registration with AASW, APS, PACFA, or ACA, or ability to obtain
- Minimum 3 years' counselling experience
- A toolbox full of evidence-based approaches (solution-focused, trauma-informed, strength-based, etc.)
- Strong skills in risk assessment and managing complex issues
- Confidence with risk assessment, critical incidents, psychosocial support and facilitating groups and training
- A collaborative, compassionate style with great communication and facilitation skills
- Strong skills in report writing and making practical, evidence-based recommendations
- Excellent time management, resilience, and emotional intelligence
- A current driver's license, Police Check (within 6 months), and a WWVP check (or ability to obtain)
As we are looking to fill some specific needs, you'll really stand out if you have one or more of the below skills and experiences:
- EAP or workplace wellbeing
- Working with individuals from CALD backgrounds
- Providing professional supervision or mediation
Why You'll Love Working With Us
- Be part of a brand new role and help shape our growing wellbeing services
- Be part of a purpose-driven team making a genuine difference in people's lives.
- You'll have real opportunities to make tangible impacts in the lives of others
- Enjoy loads of variety – counselling, training, consultancy, supervision and more
- Flexible work culture, generous leave, and the chance to bring your full self to work.
- Ability to access professional supervision, training and health and wellbeing initiatives that recognise you as an individual.
- Salary sacrifice benefits up to $15,900 for living expenses and an additional $2,650 for meal and entertainment
Sound like a fit?
If you're looking for a role that's meaningful, diverse, and future-focused, and you like the idea of building something new, we'd love to hear from you
Remuneration will be under the Health Professionals and Support Services Award with salary commensurate to experience and hours worked.
