About Us

Larvotto Resources (LVR) is developing the Hillgrove Antimony and Gold Project in Armidale, NSW. This project offers a unique opportunity to work within the mining industry and reside in the vibrant regional town of Armidale, renowned for its quality of life, educational institutions, and beautiful surroundings. Centrally located between Brisbane and Sydney, Armidale is just a short drive to the popular Coffs Coast.

Larvotto Resources is forging ahead with current ramp up activities on our Hillgrove Antimony and Gold project and we now are seeking the experience of a Senior Exploration Geologist.

This role is available on a residential basis only, with regional and interstate relocation packages available to Armidale, NSW.The position will be based at the Hillgrove Mine Exploration Facility in Armidale. This role follows an 8 days on, 6 days off roster (8/6).

About the Role

The Senior Exploration Geologist plays a critical role in evaluating geological data and leading exploration efforts. Ensuring the accurate collection, analysis, and interpretation of geological data to inform both operational and strategic decision-making, and to make new discoveries. Lead and mentor geological team members, while collaborating closely with mining, environmental, and engineering departments to optimise resource extraction, enhance safety, and improve operational efficiency.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

Field Operations and Technical Support

  • Plan and conduct diamond and RC drilling, geophysical surveys, mapping, and sampling across the mine site and nearby exploration areas.
  • Oversee the work programs.
  • Work closely with technical and operations teams to aid with integration of geological data for resource estimation and mine planning.
  • Supervise and train geological staff.

Exploration, Geological Analysis and Reporting

  • Plan and execute exploration activities to identify new ore deposits through geological mapping, sampling, geophysical surveys, and drilling campaigns.
  • Analyse geological data to define exploration targets and potential resource opportunities, ensuring alignment with the mine's strategic growth objectives. Stay up to date with advancements in geological data collection, resource estimation, and exploration techniques. Propose and implement new technologies to enhance geological accuracy and efficiency.

Safety, Compliance, and Environmental Management

  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, ensuring all geological activities comply with mine safety regulations and protocols. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to proactively identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Oversee the implementation of environmental best practices in geological operations, ensuring exploration, drilling, and mining activities minimise environmental and social impacts and adhere to sustainability principles.
  • Ensure full compliance with mining laws, environmental regulations, and reporting standards across all geological work.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Mentor junior geologists, technicians, and field staff, providing guidance on geological methods, data interpretation, and safety best practices. Facilitate knowledge transfer to build team competency and expertise.
  • Design and deliver training programs on advanced geological methodologies, software tools, and safety procedures to upskill geological and drive continuous improvement.
  • Allocate resources effectively and ensure geological projects are completed on time, the required quality and within budget.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate closely with technical, environmental, and operations teams to ensure geological findings are accurately integrated into development plans.
  • Prepare geological data and reports for regulatory authorities, ensuring compliance with legal requirements and receiving approvals as needed.
  • Coordinate with consultants, contractors, and other external stakeholders on geological projects, ensuring technical quality and alignment with site objectives.

Qualifications and experience:

  • A tertiary qualification in Geology or related field.
  • Master's degree in Geology or a related specialisation (highly desirable).
  • A minimum of 8 years exploration geology experience in within a mining or operational environment.
  • A minimum of 2 years in a senior or supervisory role, demonstrating leadership and team management skills
  • Experience in geological interpretation and modelling.
  • Familiarity with geological software and tools (e.g., Micromine, Datashed or equivalent).
  • Experience with drill programs, including planning, execution, and interpretation.
  • Strong understanding of mining processes, environmental regulations, and safety standards in the mining industry.
  • Experience working in open-pit and/or underground mining environments (preferred).

Other Requirements

  • Current valid Manual Drivers License
  • 4WD experience, an accredited qualification in off road driving (highly desired)
  • Senior First Aid Certification / CPR qualification, (highly desired)
  • Unrestricted rights to work in Australia.
  • Must be able to provide a valid National Police Clearance, obtained within the last six months upon request.
  • Ability to successfully complete a pre-employment medical assessment, including drug and alcohol screening, and comply with ongoing testing during employment.
