Primary objective
Provide high quality support services to hospitals and health services to maintain safe and appropriate patient and client services.
Context statement
A variety of roles, locations and durations may become available. Offers will be made to suitable applicants on a needs based and skill mix
assessment, and assignments may be varied at any time to respond to emerging needs. Suitable applicants will form part of a recruitment

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Provide high quality efficient support services and specific associated duties under the direction of the Manager, Supervisor or
experienced staff of to the area assigned to.
2. Observe all procedures relating to safety and maintain standards applicable to the work area – which may include Hygiene, Infection
Control standards, Environmental Cleaning procedures, Linen Handing and other relevant work practices.
3. Contribute to achieve an efficient patient care service in accordance with Hospital policy and Australian Health Standards.
4. Work effectively as a team member and act in a courteous, professional manner, showing respect for staff, patients and visitors.
5. Participate in a flexible roster that may include various locations and assignments, weekends and public holidays.
6. Follow defined service quality standards, WHS policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken in order to ensure high
quality, safe services and workplaces.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Working knowledge relevant to maintaining effective support service standards that comply with the applicable Hygiene, Infection
Control and Australian Standards required in a hospital environment.
2. Ability to safely operate relevant equipment and working knowledge of commercial cleaning, laundry or kitchen methods and safe
practices.
3. Physical ability and skill to perform manual tasks that may include repetitive lifting in accordance with Work Health and Safety and
Manual Handling procedures.
4. Ability to work reliably and flexibly as part of a diverse team, follow directions and use time management skills to prioritise work and
execute tasks.
5. Good communication skills including oral, reading, writing and comprehension, appropriate for work environment.
Willingness and ability to work to a 24/7 roster across a variety of campuses and services, and be amenable to assignment changes.
6. Experience in a large industrial kitchen and service comparable to distribution of meals to patients;
or
7. Experience in hospital or commercial cleaning following infection control guidelines;
or
8. Experience in an industrial or commercial laundry; and hold a current Northern Territory (NT) 'MR' class driver's licence with extensive
driving experience of MR vehicles.
