Melbourne, Victoria, Australia Mayver's Foods Full time $60,000 - $90,000 per year

Full-Time | Based in Altona North, Victoria

At Mayver's Foods, we're proud to be Australia's #1 natural spreads brand, family-owned, Australian-made, and employing over 80 passionate team members at our head office and production facility in Altona North. As we continue to grow across FMCG categories, we're looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Material Handling & Inventory Controller to join our operations team.

This is a critical role responsible for ensuring our stock, raw materials, and finished goods are accurately controlled, efficiently handled, and readily available to support smooth business operations.

About the Role

The Material Handling & Inventory Controller will manage the end-to-end flow of stock and materials within our busy FMCG environment. From overseeing cycle counts and stock reconciliations, to ensuring production has the right inputs at the right time, this role is central to the success of our manufacturing and distribution.

The ideal candidate is highly systems-driven, with strong IT/computer skills, and thrives on implementing processes that drive accuracy and efficiency. You will also be a clear communicator who collaborates seamlessly with production, warehouse, procurement, and customer service teams.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Control

  • Oversee daily, weekly, and monthly cycle counts and stocktake processes across raw materials, packaging, and finished goods.
  • Ensure accuracy of stock levels in ERP/WMS systems, reconciling discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and maintain optimal stock levels to support production schedules and customer orders.
  • Prepare detailed inventory reports, highlighting variances, usage trends, and slow-moving/obsolete stock.

Material Handling & Flow

  • Coordinate efficient movement of raw materials from warehouse to production lines, ensuring FIFO is strictly followed.
  • Maintain real-time visibility of stock location and movement using warehouse management systems.
  • Ensure correct labelling, storage conditions, and handling of all raw materials and finished products in line with food safety standards.
  • Support the warehouse and production teams in accurate picking, staging, and dispatch processes.

Systems, Processes & Continuous Improvement

  • Operate and improve ERP, inventory, and warehouse management systems for maximum efficiency.
  • Develop and implement process improvements that enhance stock accuracy, reduce waste, and streamline operations.
  • Act as the "systems champion" for inventory functions—training staff, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring compliance.
  • Assist with implementation of new technologies and digital solutions to improve visibility and control.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Production to ensure materials availability for all recipes and scheduled runs.
  • Partner with Procurement to provide real-time stock data, forecast requirements, and avoid shortages.
  • Liaise with Warehouse & Logistics to support inbound receipting, dispatch accuracy, and courier bookings.
  • Support Customer Service & Sales by providing accurate stock visibility for order fulfilment and promotional planning.

About You

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a similar inventory management, warehouse operations, or material control role in an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong IT/system skills (ERP, WMS, Excel and reporting tools essential).
  • Excellent attention to detail, with a proactive approach to problem solving and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to run and interpret cycle counts, reconcile stock discrepancies, and implement preventative solutions.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and work across multiple teams.
  • Process-driven mindset with the confidence to suggest and implement improvements.
  • Understanding of food safety, FIFO, and compliance within FMCG environments (highly regarded).

Why Join Mayver's?

  • Be part of Australia's leading natural spreads brand, driving growth in FMCG.
  • Work in a dynamic, supportive team that values initiative and collaboration.
  • Opportunities for professional development as we continue to scale.
  • Proudly Australian-made and family-owned, we are passionate about creating better-for-you foods and investing in our people.

How to Apply

If you're an experienced inventory and material handling professional who thrives on accuracy, process, and teamwork, we'd love to hear from you.

Please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your experience and why you're the right fit for Mayver's Foods.
