The Successful Candidate Will Demonstrate
- Positive and proactive situational leadership of the project team
- Management of the delivery of highly complex projects and coordination of project progress and issues with key stakeholders, including Customers, senior managers and executives
- Experience in leadership and management of Defence Acquisition programs
- Ability to execute programs with autonomy in achieving project success, using escalation where and when appropriate
- Definition, development and execution of plans and activities to achieve project objectives and outcomes
- Customer focus and ownership of Customer relationships
- Proficiency in project management disciplines, including Scheduling, Finance, Subcontracts, Risk and Opportunity
- Planning, monitoring and control of project costs to achieve budget expectations and preparation of monthly financial and project status reports for internal and external stakeholders
- Excellent written and oral communication skills with both internal and external stakeholders
- Behaviours that align with and promote UM's Alignment, Integrity, and Transparency values
You'll bring high levels of personal motivation and drive, combined with:
- Success on high complexity programs with at least 5 years of Defence industry experience
- Tertiary qualification in Engineering, Science or Business (or equivalent)
- A calm adaptive approach to managing changing priorities whilst delivering to program commitments
- Situational leadership skills to enable effective influencing of the project team and senior level leaders and customers
- Experience in management of complex international and domestic subcontracts
- Demonstrable knowledge of PMBOK Project Management principles and performance management frameworks, including AS4817 Earned Value Management system and processes
- An ability to perform excellently in all areas of Program Management: scheduling, budgeting/cost control, financial reporting, interpersonal skills and customer relationships
- A commitment to development and mentoring of direct reports and a desire for them to succeed and progress
- Familiarity and proficiency in PM tools and software, including MS Project or Open Plan Professional, MS Word, MS Excel, Risk Predict (or equivalent)
- Must be eligible to obtain and maintain an Australian security clearance
