  • After school hours (2:30-5:30pm on selected weekdays), varied hours during school holiday periods

Looking for passionate mentors/educators who love working with young children (Kindergarten - Year 6) and are passionate in the field of STEAM (STEM + Arts). We're encouraging primary students to be creative problem solvers and creating a fun environment where they can learn future-ready skills.

As a mentor, you'll be travelling to NSW primary schools and out of school hours care centres, leading several STEAM-based programs, including:

  • LEGO Robotics (most in demand)
  • Public Speaking
  • Python Programming and advanced coding
  • Science Experiments (School Holidays only)
  • Magnetic Tile Engineering (School Holidays only)

Note that one is not expected to deliver every program, as we're eager to work to your strengths. However, we highly value prospective team members who are interested in delivering multiple programs and we are eager to provide the opportunity to learn new skills. Overall, you'll facilitate discussions and brainstorm sessions in classes, assist students, and generally manage classroom behaviour. Ability to engage and work with children is paramount

Responsibilities

  • Travel to various schools in the NSW region, primarily within and near the Hills District NSW region
  • Engage with students, open discussions on teamwork, any relevant theory or brainstorms
  • Manage classroom behaviour and assist students in their tasks
  • Evaluate student performance each class through our reward system
  • May be required to answer parent/guardian enquiries on their child's performance/behaviour
  • Manage equipment and check inventory
  • Communicate with and report to managers
  • Set strong examples and be a good role model, encouraging primary students to pursue their interests in STEAM

Qualifications

Required

  • Minimum of a High School Certificate
  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Working with children check - paid employee (can acquire after hiring)
  • Valid drivers license and ability to work in Australia

Desired but not mandatory

  • Completed or currently studying a degree within the STEAM field
  • Relevant experience either in coding, public speaking, science and/or engineering
  • Experience working with children as either a tutor or carer

Renumeration

  • $30-$35 hourly pay (based on experience and/or performance)
