Primary School Teacher

The successful primary school (physical education) teacher will be responsible for managing the delivery of the NBA Basketball School Programs to a variety of our venue schools. Your role will include (but not limited to) the following:

- Assist with the management of the daily communication and relationship between NBA Basketball School and the venue school.
- Manage the transport, set up and pack up of all equipment.
- Address any on-site issues, and where appropriate escalate any on site issues to NBA Basketball School Australia management.
- Manage general staff, performance, professionalism and educational delivery.
- Delivery of physical education skills (in particular, basketball and related on and off court activities) to primary school pupils.
- Implementation of designated comprehensive curriculum (prepared in conjunction with the NBA and its NBA certified coaches) through to diverse teaching methodologies and resources.
- Enhancement of students' interests, capabilities, and coordination through creative activities.
- Preparation, administration, and assessment of tests, projects, and assignments to gauge students' progress.
- Communication of individual progress and issues with students and parents.
- Participation in staff meetings and workshops.
- Teach sports and skills development (in particular in relation to basketball and related on and off court activities), and oversee the participation of young people in sport.
- Provide student reporting for student grading.
- Manage and coordinate class groups (Kindergarten to Year 6) through the delivery of the NBA Basketball School Australia programs in a professional manner.
- Provide technique instruction to assist with the development of fundamental motor skills.
- Manages progression development of students in line with scope and sequence.
- Provides a differentiation of coaching an instruction across different age groups and capabilities.
- Deliver both tactical and strategic instruction to students.
- Collect data for assessment and evaluation.

Basketball Magic is an Australian-owned sports management company focused on grassroots basketball development.

Basketball Magic commenced operating as NBA Basketball School Australia in February 2023, with its first program operating from Cranbrook School in the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney and has undergone measured growth in other venues since then.

Basketball Magic has expanded its school venues/hubs since then to schools in Brisbane, Gold Coast, Newcastle, other Sydney metropolitan schools, Canberra, Melbourne and Launceston.

NBA Basketball School Australia has set the gold standard for youth basketball teaching in Australia, at both a grassroots and elite level. The program provides an additional avenue for young players to learn the sport and refine their basketball skills under the tutelage of established basketball teachers and trainers.

With input from NBA coaches, former NBA players, and player development experts, NBA Basketball School Australia has developed a comprehensive curriculum approved by the NBA which must be taught by NBA-approved and certified trainers. Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Bellevue Hill, NSW 2023
