Council Relations Officer - Supporting the Mayor and Council

About the role
The City of Swan is seeking an experienced and highly capable professional to step into a unique and rewarding role as Council Relations Officer, serving as the primary point of contact for the Mayor and Council Members.
Working in a dynamic, politically sensitive and fast-paced environment, you will be the trusted link between the Mayor, Council Members, community and key stakeholders. Your ability to anticipate needs, manage competing priorities, and communicate with confidence will ensure our civic leaders are always prepared, informed, and represented to the highest standard.
As the Council Relations Officer, you will;
- Act as the go-to liaison for the Mayor and Council Members, managing relationships with professionalism and discretion
- Provide clear and accurate briefing notes, speeches and talking points to support the Mayor or their delegate.
- Coordinate and manage the Mayor and Council Members' diaries, including scheduling and prioritising attendance at civic events, community engagements and internal meetings.
- Ensure all Mayoral correspondence and queries are actioned promptly and professionally.
- Play a central role in coordinating Mayor and Council Member attendance at key community events, from ANZAC Day services to school award ceremonies, helping to showcase the City's civic leadership.
About you
You bring more than exceptional organisational skills. With a keen eye for detail and the ability to manage competing priorities under pressure, you consistently deliver with precision. Your political awareness, emotional intelligence, and refined communication skills enable you to act with discretion and confidence in every interaction.
The successful candidate will have the following:
- Bachelor Degree in Business Admin or similar or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in providing high-level, confidential administrative support to senior leaders.
- Excellent ability to multi task, prioritise and manage workload efficiently in a fast paced and demanding environment.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain strong professional relationships with diverse stakeholders.
- Local Government experience will be highly regarded.
- A satisfactory National Police Certificate is required

The salary for this position will be from $84,485.93 to $100,282.66 per annum, depending on the skills and experience of the successful applicant.
