The ideal candidates will possess in-depth expertise with the Australian Privacy Act, a proven track record in negotiating data processing agreements (DPAs), and outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills.
Responsibilities
:
- Deliver expert legal counsel on privacy and data protection issues to ensure robust support.
- Facilitate understanding and adherence to Australian privacy laws, with a focus on the Privacy Act.
- Develop, negotiate, and assess commercial agreements that include information law clauses, as well as create privacy policies, consent forms, and compliance documentation.
- Offer strategic guidance on compliance reporting, data tracking requirements, and updates to internal codes of conduct to enhance adherence to legal standards.
Qualifications:
- Over 5 years of post-qualification experience (PQE), with a preference for those who have gained expertise in an in-house legal setting.
- Demonstrated proficiency in drafting and negotiating comprehensive data privacy and data processing agreements to ensure full compliance with legal requirements and protection of sensitive information.
- In-depth understanding of privacy law, specifically the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and related regulations, supported by proven experience in the field.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills; able to excel in a dynamic and fast-paced legal environment while effectively communicating complex information.
- Must possess full working rights in Australia and be fully qualified and eligible to practice law within the country.
