About the role:

Reporting into the Head of Umpiring WAF and the PFL Football Operations Manager, this role is primarily responsible for driving, enhancing and promoting the value of umpires within the WA Football Community by facilitating capacity building strategies within the community football structures of WA. This is a permanent full-time opportunity, based in Tuart Hill.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Responsibility for planning, coordination and collective management of umpiring within the Perth Football League.
  • Providing regular education to PFL Club, Pool, Panel and Appointed umpires.
  • Designing, implementing and evaluating the selection and assessment processes and coaching programs for all PFL community-based umpires in accordance with AFL guidelines
  • Coordinating and providing administrative support to umpire appointment processes in accordance with WA Football guidelines
  • Assisting in the implementation of the Perth Football League's integrity/investigation process.
  • Providing leadership to umpire coaches in the PFL
  • Establishing and maintaining strong stakeholder relationships including the PFL Umpire's Association, Clubs and PFL Administration staff.
  • Coordinating and implementing professional development opportunities for all coaching staff withing the Perth Football League.
  • Maintaining and operating within the WA Football umpiring budget

To be considered for this position you will need to demonstrate the following criteria:

Essential:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and interact confidently with groups of participants and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to conduct presentations and complete assessment documentation.
  • Demonstrated strong computer literacy, particularly skills in the use of the Microsoft suite of products
  • Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, teamwork and relationship building skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work outside of normal hours and on weekends
  • Possession of or willingness to obtain a valid Working with Children's Card

Desirable:

  • Sound knowledge of Umpire coaching and development philosophies and strategies
