About The Role
This is a Fixed Term Full Time, 76hrs/fortnight, position to cover Parental Leave until 30/10/2026

The Orthotic and Prosthetic Unit at RCH is seeking a fixed term, full time Grade One or Grade Two Orthotist to join their dynamic team.

This is a clinical position responsible for the Orthotic management of children with a diverse range of orthopaedic and neurological conditions. There is a high proportion of custom work which is well supported by a team of competent and capable technicians.

Classification for this position will range from CO7–CP51 (base salary $70,590 to $103,924 per annum, plus superannuation plus salary packaging)

What You'll Achieve

  • Deliver consistently excellent evidence-based orthotic care comprising of in and outpatient interventions for children and young adults with orthopaedic or neuromuscular conditions.
  • Maintain clinical documentation, records and data as per discipline specific guidelines and RCH procedures.
  • Participate in professional development activities to ensure that best clinical practice is maintained.
  • Actively contribute to the continuous improvement of health care quality and patient safety.

Your Skills And Experience

  • Master of Clinical Prosthetics & Orthotics or Bachelor of Prosthetics and Orthotics or equivalent.
  • Evidence of eligibility for membership to AOPA.
  • Demonstrated commitment to work and contribute as part of a team.

About The Department
The department provides orthoses (braces/supportive devices) and prostheses (artificial limbs) to children and adolescents who have acute and/or chronic conditions requiring treatment. Orthotist Prosthetists are skilled in the treatment of a wide range of neuromuscular-skeletal conditions, as well as providing treatment post surgically, for fracture management and positional plagiocephaly.

  • Valid Working with Children Check
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, or willing to obtain
  • Compliance with RCHs "Staff Immunisation - Prevention of Vaccine Preventable Diseases" procedure
