Director, State Operations

The South Australian Country Fire Service (SACFS) serves communities through dedicated volunteers delivering professional fire and rescue services to protect life, property and environmental assets in rural and semi-urban South Australia. With over 13,500 volunteers contributing over 3 million hours per annum to ensure the safety of the community, the SACFS vision is to build on its reputation as a trusted, responsive and effective community-based fire and emergency services organisation.

SACFS is now seeking a highly talented and experienced new Director of State Operations to replace the current incumbent who has been promoted to Executive Director Statewide Operations. This exciting and rare opportunity will appeal to an executive seeking a permanent appointment in a vibrant, dynamic, action-oriented and service-driven organisation with a track record of excellence in keeping the South Australian community safe.

This key role is responsible for the strategic leadership and management of State Operations, the direction of high-level projects of critical importance with state-wide impact, and for optimising the efficient use of SACFS operational resources. With an outward-looking focus, the appointee will drive a coordinated approach to operations across key functional areas, and develop and foster high-level relationships with external agencies. They will also play a vital role in emergency support and incident management by coordinating a defined operational on-call roster.

We are seeking a Director with proven ability to devote time to both strategy and operational leadership in a large-scale dynamic environment, and with experience in fire, rescue and emergency service delivery.

Your outstanding interpersonal communication skills, proactivity, commercial acumen, sense of urgency, attention to detail and big-picture thinking will come to the fore in promoting a high level of job satisfaction in providing an essential service to all South Australians.

A relevant tertiary qualification at Diploma level or above (AQF 5)

Remuneration:

MAS3

$127,859
