We are looking for a strong Back of House Supervisor to lead the kitchen team at a busy casual dining restaurant located at Westfields Penrith.

Position Summary

Our Back of House Supervisor oversees daily kitchen operations to ensure food quality, safety, cleanliness, and efficiency. This role supports the kitchen team, coordinates workflow, maintains inventory, and ensures compliance with health and safety standards. The BOH Supervisor acts as a leader on shift, helping train team members, resolve issues, and maintain smooth kitchen performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise BOH team during shifts, ensuring proper staffing levels and task delegation.
  • Oversee food preparation, production timelines, and dish execution.
  • Monitor kitchen flow to maintain speed, accuracy, and quality.
  • Support opening and closing procedures.

Food Quality & Safety

  • Ensure all meals meet company quality standards and recipes are followed.
  • Enforce food safety regulations (FIFO, temperature logs, sanitation protocols, etc.).
  • Conduct routine cleanliness inspections and coordinate deep-cleaning tasks.

Team Management & Training

  • Train new BOH team members on procedures, equipment, and safety expectations.
  • Coach team members to improve performance and uphold standards.
  • Support scheduling, attendance tracking, and shift changes as needed.

Inventory & Equipment

  • Assist with ordering, receiving, and storing ingredients and supplies.
  • Monitor inventory levels, reduce waste, and complete daily/weekly counts.
  • Report equipment issues and coordinate maintenance.

Communication & Coordination

  • Communicate effectively with Front of House (FOH) leadership to ensure smooth service.
  • Collaborate with cooks, line cooks, dishwashers, and FOH during peak periods.
  • Address guest concerns communicated through FOH and ensure timely resolution.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of experience in a BOH or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of food handling, kitchen equipment, and safety standards.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.
  • Food Safety Supervisor or equivalent certification (preferred).

Work Environment

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced kitchen setting with variable hours including nights, weekends, and holidays.
