About the opportunity
Northern Tasmania is home to our Wynyard site which makes cheese and a range of powders for food companies. We take Tasmanian farmers' milk and turn this into world-class dairy foods for both the domestic and export market.
As a Production Operator, you'll be operating, monitoring and cleaning complex processes and packing machinery, ensuring the product specifications are met according to our customer requirements.
You'll also record key product and process information in our database and use your mechanical capabilities to perform basic maintenance checks.
Due to the seasonality of our milk supply, this is a seasonal role where you work up to 42 weeks per year.
Key responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and clean automated production equipment and packing lines.
- Respond to production variances and troubleshoot issues with minimal supervision.
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a food production or manufacturing environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand technical processes and equipment.
- Proven ability to follow SOPs, GMP, and HACCP principles.
- High attention to detail and commitment to product quality and safety.
- Solid computer literacy, including data entry and reporting (SAP experience highly regarded).
- Physically fit and capable of manual handling tasks in a factory setting.
- Conduct routine quality checks and record accurate data in our production systems.
- Perform basic mechanical maintenance and report equipment faults promptly.
- Adhere to strict hygiene, safety, and environmental protocols.
- Support process improvement initiatives and contribute to lean manufacturing goals.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth operations.
