Tasmanian Stockfeed Services (TSS) is the leading manufacturer of stock feed and associated services in Tasmania. This family owned and operated company was established in 2006 and has enjoyed consistent and continual growth. The business has its head office in Launceston and mill and warehousing operations in Devonport, Burnie and Mildura.
An opportunity is available for Truck Drivers to join our Tasmanian owned and operated business based in Devonport, reporting to the Transport Manager. The successful candidates will predominately pick up and tip bulk product in containers but will also assist with tautliner work, relief work delivering bulk products to farms and other customer sites throughout the state and provide support with additional tasks at other company's sites.
Key responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Drive transport vehicles safely to pick up and deliver shipping containers and/or palletised products, observing safe driving practices as per TSS and regulatory requirements.
- Operate all on board equipment and deliver products in accordance with procedures and safety requirements.
- Ensure product is loaded legally and safely for transport (e.g. meets weight requirements, chain of responsibility requirements etc).
- Maintain communication with TSS to receive instructions/run changes etc.
- Maintain vehicle, driver and product records according to state, federal regulations and TSS Feedsafe accreditation requirements.
- Clean, inspect and perform minor service tasks on vehicle (e.g. greasing).
- Communicate, report and document any identified issues, concerns and incidents with assigned vehicle, facilities, cargo or any other safety issues to supervisor as soon as practicable and prior to leaving site.
- Ensure all interactions are polite, professional and positive.
Key capabilities required include, but not limited to:
· HC truck licence mandatory.
· Previous driving experience desirable however inexperienced drivers will be supported with on-the-job training.
· Rostered hours are generally worked during day shift Monday to Saturday with additional overtime available, especially in busy periods.
· Must be physically fit and willing to work as part of a team.
· Basic reading and writing skills with ability to operate onboard computer system.
· Positive communication style with a flexible and proactive approach.
· Demonstrated commitment to work, health and safety and following procedures.
· Can work well autonomously and has working knowledge of relevant transport rules and regulations.
· Willing to participate in pre-employment checks; including police check, fitness to drive medical with drug and alcohol screening and truck driving insurance check.
