Position Title: Plant Operator

Location: Lindeman Island, Whitsunday Islands, Queensland, Australia

Reporting To: Construction Manager/Chief Engineer

Probation Period: 6 Months

Salary: $120K Superannuation

Overview:

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced Plant Operator to live and work on the beautiful Lindeman Island in the Whitsundays. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe and efficient operation of a variety of plant equipment, including but not limited to tractors, excavators (up to 36t), front-end loaders, skid steer loaders, and backhoes. The role also requires a mechanically minded individual who can perform basic maintenance on equipment and assist with other duties as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

· Plant Operation:

o Operate a variety of plant equipment safely and efficiently, including tractors, excavators (up to 36t), front-end loaders, skid steer loaders, and backhoes.

o Manoeuvre equipment in a variety of terrains and conditions, including uneven surfaces, slopes, and confined spaces.

o Perform pre-start checks on equipment, including fluid levels, tire pressure, and safety equipment.

o Operate equipment for various tasks, including earthmoving, excavation, loading, and material handling.

· Equipment Maintenance:

o Perform basic maintenance on all plant equipment, including but not limited to:

§ Checking and changing oils and filters

§ Greasing and lubricating equipment

§ Inspecting and replacing hoses and belts

§ Checking and maintaining fluid levels

§ Cleaning and maintaining equipment

o Identify and report any mechanical issues or defects to the Construction Manager/Chief Engineer.

o Assist with coordinating major repairs and servicing with external contractors.

· General Duties and Assistance:

o Assist with other duties as directed by the Construction Manager/Chief Engineer, which may include manual labour, assisting other tradespeople, and general site maintenance.

o Be flexible and adaptable to changing work priorities.

o Work effectively as part of a team.

o Follow all safety procedures and guidelines.

Qualifications and Experience:

· Essential:

o Proven experience operating a variety of plant equipment, including tractors, excavators (up to 36t), front-end loaders, skid steer loaders, and backhoes.

o Demonstrated mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic maintenance on plant equipment.

o Ability to follow instructions and work independently.

o Good communication and interpersonal skills.

o Strong commitment to safety.

o Valid driver's license.

o Relevant plant operation tickets and licenses.

o Construction white card.

· Desirable:

o Formal qualifications in plant operation or mechanics.

o Experience working in a remote location.

o Experience with GPS and laser leveling systems.

o First aid and CPR certification.
