General Manager – Walpole Community Resource Centre
The Walpole Community Resource Centre (CRC) is seeking a dynamic and community-focused General Manager to lead our dedicated team and oversee the delivery of essential services and programs within our vibrant regional community.
This permanent part-time position (Tuesday to Friday, 9:00am – 4:00pm) offers an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of local residents while enjoying the relaxed lifestyle of beautiful Walpole.
A three-bedroom, one-bathroom rental home (if needed) is available as part of the employment package.
About the Role
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation and management of the Centre, including administration, financial management, staffing, and community engagement.
The role also includes coordination of the Staying in Place Programme, supporting seniors to live independently, and serving as Editor of the Walpole Weekly, our much-loved local newspaper.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all aspects of Centre administration, contracts, insurance, and asset management
- Manage financial operations including payroll, budgeting, debt and credit control, and reporting
- Lead and support staff and volunteers to deliver quality community services
- Coordinate the Staying in Place Programme for aged care clients
- Oversee production of the Walpole Weekly, ensuring editorial quality and community representation
- Liaise with the Walpole CRC Committee, community groups, and key stakeholders
- Respond to community needs and contribute to the growth and sustainability of the Centre
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience in management or a supervisory role within a community-focused organisation
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage teams effectively
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in MS Office and general office software
- Proficiency in Myob or other accounting software
- Experience in project management and event coordination
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Desirable:
- Experience working in a non-profit or community service environment
- Knowledge of community development principles and practices
- Familiarity with government service provision
